1 Simple Black Sweater, 2 Ways to Wear it

Coming to you from the Atlanta, Georgia area today! If you’ve been following along on IG stories, you know I’ve been here since Sunday and I’ll be staying for the entire week of Thanksgiving. (I CAN’T WAIT to eat some delicious food!) My parents drove down here from Virginia to my aunt’s house in GA and I flew in from Chicago!

I’ve been enjoying some good ol’ quality family time – there’s 9 of us staying in one house and it’s been non-stop chatter and activity! I attempted to sit and bust this blog post out earlier, but every time, a toddler jumps into my lap and demands my attention! I’m not complaining though, I’m soaking in all the love and I want to be present – so after about 3 attempts this week I put my laptop away.

Because of this, I hope you don’t mind today’s post being a little shorter than usual! I know you guys understand, as I’m sure you guys are winding down with your loved ones for the holiday as well!

Enough small talk, let’s get into the outfit of the day featuring this black sweater. It’s been awhile since we last talked clothes, and sweaters are my favorite articles of clothing!  Everyone probably already has a black one in their closet, I find myself buying SO many of them every year. Because winter lasts for such an extended period of time in Chicago, I convince myself that I can never have enough!

While I do think more is more, when it comes to this, I’m showing you how to get two looks out of this one sweater. It’s slightly off the shoulder on one side, which it gives it a feminine, sassy touch that I love.

With Shorts and OTK Boots

This first look is a more dressy version. I shocked myself when I first paired it with these paper bag striped shorts, I usually don’t choose shorts for myself. I actually impulse bought these when out shopping with my mother a few months ago – she picked them out and practically MADE me buy them.

I wasn’t sold on them but I got them anyway and decided I’d figure out how to style them later. I really love this with these over the knee boots! You can also wear these with leggings if it’s too cold or opt for shorter booties.

With Jeans and Booties

This next look is how you’ll see me rockin a sweater 9/10 times – with simple jeans and booties. This is pretty much my winter uniform. It’s easy, its thoughtless, and you look so put together. And YES, you can still wear shades during colder months – the sky is actually so bright on snowy mornings and I NEED them!

Other Options:

  • To sport it up, wear it with some crisp white Nikes or Black & White Adidas. The athleisure look is so in right now and it’s so comfortable – why not?
  • Wear the over the knee boots with a skirt – this is sure to give that school girl vibe that’s so classic in fall!

These outfits would be so cute for a dressed up or down Thanksgiving if you’re still wondering what to wear and need some last minute inspo!

Which look was your favorite?
